Planning your New Zealand Trout fishing trip

 

Want you should bring

Fishing tackle
Rods: 4-7 weight 5-6 being optimum.
Reels: Good quality reel to match size of rod.
Fly lines: Floating lines in neutral colours work best. 75 yards of fly line backing.
Leaders : 9-15 ft long, 5x-3x tippet material 6x-3x

Flies: proven fish catching flies provided. Bring a good range of standard weighted nymphs 18s-6s, dry flies mayfly patterns 16s -12s and hopper patterns 6s -12s added variety can always help.

Polarized glasses: good glasses along with wide brim hat makes all the difference to spotting fish, brown tint lenses with side blinds work best.

 

Clothing: dull colors like brown and green allow you to blend into the background important when stalking up on that fish! Clothing should be warm as weather conditions can change at anytime of the year.

Wading equipment: light weight neoprenes or gortex chestwaders. Warmer condition allowing for comfortable wet wading and added mobility. Suggestions- would be light weight long trousers or shorts over polypropylene long johns. Felt wading boots and gravel guards.

Overnight campouts: Camping equipment included in overnight fee.
